Seesawing

An observation that I noticed in vying for a top position for a certain search keyword is how recently a website is updated.  In more exact terms, I’m referring to web logs, commonly referred to as blogs.

Consider the following situation:

  • I make a posting.
  • Another website makes a positing three days later.

After waiting seven days the Google search engine prefers the website with the most recent posting.  This creates a seesaw effect, where a posting will lift you from the ground, causing another website to sink.
